I’ve been watching the Future of Web Apps session with Dion Almaer and Ben Galbraith. They delve briefly into the history of Microsoft and how they tried to own the web early on, but were unable to contain it, so they pivoted and accepted a much smaller role that they’ve envisioned. The world of technology is an impressive one. It’s amazing how many startups are bringing thier own sense of innovation and adding the online landscape.
One such company is Branch Out – been dubbed the Linkedin.com killer. Some quick highlights include:
- Largest professional network on Facebook
- Largest job board on Facebook
- Facebook is a great source for recruiters
- President Obama has reached out to Branch Out in order to help military vetarans get jobs
How it works:
It takes the professional information of you and your friends so that you are now 1 degree closer to the company you want to work for. Check out the video. Key take away: not only will you see the company you’ve always wanted to work for, you will also see which one of your Facebook friend works there- the inside connection.
